Cowes looked to be feeling the effects of two games in three days at Westwood on Monday and newly promoted Totton & Eling cruised to an emphatic victory.
With centre-back Scott Sampson having returned to duty with the Marines, the home defence looked vulnerable and on thirteen minutes, a break down the right ended with a simple tap-in at the far post for Steve Jenkin.
Ten minutes later, the lack of height at the back allowed Kieran Earl a free header from a corner for number two.
Cowes eventually started to string together a few passes and after Gareth Bricknell had a goal disallowed for offside, his dummy on the edge of the box and Mikey Jones’ deft pass, gave Alex Harvey the opportunity to side-step the keeper and reduce the arrears.
The visitors restored their two goal lead immediately after the break, when Steve Jenkin converted another right wing cross and ten minutes later, he completed his hat-trick, latching onto a long ball down the left before beating the helpless Chris Norris.
Another free header from centre-back, Jamie Feasey gave the visitors a fifth before Gareth Bricknell was upended in the box and he stepped up to convert the penalty to give the score an air of respectabilty, but right on time, Totton & Eling rubbed it in, Steve Eyles scoring a sixth, after his header had struck the post, to make it a particularly miserable afternoon for the Cowes supporters.
