Horndean 3 – Cowes 1
Cowes Under 18′s travelled to Horndean on Sunday for their first game of the season.
They got off to a great start when Blake Reeves tapped in a lovely goal in the second minute. For the first twenty minutes Cowes frustrated Horndean, not allowing them on the ball and had much of the possession.
Cowes’ spirit was commendable but a lack of concentration allowed Horndean to equalise and three minutes later the same mistake led to a second goal. Horndean picked up their game before slotting home their third goal just before the half time whistle.
The two subs were brought on and and the second half was a much better effort with Cowes keeping possession and shape. They set the pace early on but failed to capitalise. Nathan Lewis and James Flux worked tirelessly throughout. A string of chances came and went but poor finishing denied Cowes any more goals but they kept their heads up and fought til the final whistle.
