NEWPORT EASE TO 3rd PLACE IN WESTWOOD CUP

WESTWOOD CUP - 3rd/4th place play-off

NEWPORT IOW 4  BRADING TOWN 1
Wessex Premier side Newport IOW secured third place in the competition with a 4-1 victory that in truth was a little unkind on a hard working Brading Town side.
A very competitive first half saw Newport take an early lead through former Winchester City player Alex PRZESPOLEWSKI, but Brading Town were soon back on level terms when Scott LAWSON smashed home an equalizer. The sides remained level up to half time and then well into the second half, but tired legs  form the Romans and the fact that Newport brought the likes of James Butt, Joe Rayner, Tom McInnes and Ross Gregory on from the bench  saw Port score 3 times in the latter stages of the half. Joe PHELPS was unfortunate to put the ball into his own net before strikes from Tom McINNES and John McKIE won the game for the men from St Georges Park.
