HORNDEAN         1 – 1       COWES SPORTS

Attendance:- 40

Due to problems with the Five Heads pitch, Horndean were forced to play this  ‘home’ game at Alton Town’s Anstey Park 4G pitch which was quite different from what both sides were used to.

Once again the first half flew past without either side troubling their opponents goal keeper.

H-t 0 – 0

Early in the second half everything changed as Horndean’s NICK TAYLER conceded an Own Goal to give the Islanders the lead. Horndean thought they had leveled on 75 minutes, but an offside flag had been raised to rule out the ‘goal’. Just two minutes were left on the clock when DANIEL HAYES did score an equalising goal for Horndean to earn a share of the points.

Despite conceding the late equaliser the whole of the Cowes squad can be very proud of their performance on the evening against one of the top sides in the division on a surface that they were not used too. The Committee also appreciate everyone that traveled for this game that, with an 20:15 KO meaning catching the 23:59 boat back to the Island, some not getting home til around 2am on Wednesday morning. This was also noticed by the League who sent a letter thanking Cowes Sports FC for getting this match played.
