Match report: Moneyfields FC v Cowes Sports
Match report: 27 October2007
Wessex League Cup
Moneyfields F.C.: 2
Cowes Sports F.C. 1
Cowes Sports conceded two late goals, the decider in the 92nd minute, to slide out of the Sydenhams Wessex League Cup on Tuesday evening, after taking a first half lead.
Moneyfields enjoyed the majority of possession, without threatening the Cowes goal and on 40 minutes, Mark Augustus stole in to head a James Butt cross into the net.
Cowes lost both Scott Sampson and Mark Augustus to second half injuries, but looked comfortable until the 75th minute, when a defensive slip allowed the home side to equalise.
Moneyfields were reduced to ten men after 80 minutes, but with extra-time looking inevitable, they won it as an injury-time corner was headed goalward and somehow found the net through a tangle of legs.
The only consolation for Cowes was that they were now able to catch the last Red Jet back to the Island.
