John McKie then sent an overhead kick towards goal, but again Charlie Aldridge was equal to it by tipping the ball over the bar for a corner. The breakthrough finally came in the 31st minute when Jared Wetherick saw his shot blocked by a combination of keeper and defender, the rebound fell into the path of JOHN MCKIE who netted from close range. Relief was felt all round Westwood Park. the impressive Jez Conway then crossed for Jordan Browne to head the ball into their keeper hands before, just before the break, Downton striker Ross Bentall lobbed Cowes keeper Ed Hatt, but also the crossbar as the home side went in at half time just one goal to the good.
