Former Cowes player GLENN HOWES brought his Blackfield + Langley side over the Solent to face the Yachtsmen looking to end a run of four defeats on the spin.

Cowes started well and nearly took the lead in the 11th minute when James Butt’s long ball was collected by John McKie, he rounded their keeper but fired the ball into the side netting. Ollie Wilson then shot inches wide of target from the edge of their area. Cowes were then caught napping in the 25th minute as the visitors took the lead. A quick free kick sent JAKE ROWLEY away down the right, hesitation from Ed Hatt saw the Blackfield player round him with ease to slot home the opening goal of the game.  Shortly before half time and Ed Hatt was called upon to push away an effort at goal before Tom Scovell headed off the line. A minute into first half added time and the visitors doubled their lead when EKOW ELLIOTT slid in at the far post to get on the end of a cross from the right.

H-t 0 – 2

Cowes hauled themselves back into the match two minutes into the second half James Butt’s corner from the left was bundled home by NATHAN LEWIS from close range. Minutes later and another James Butt corner found Tom Scovell who volleyed just the wrong side of the post. With the Island side pushing forward in search of an equaliser they were always vulnerable to a quick breakaway and in the 74th minute a third goal came courtesy of RICO WILSON who netted from close in. An injury time break from their own half ended with JAKE ROWLEY netting a fourth goal for Blackfield which certainly flattered them, but aught the Cowes team a lesson in taking the chances you create.
