IoW Saturday League

Division 3 – Saturday February 27th 2016

The young Yachtsman moved to within a point of current league leaders Wootton with resounding 11-0 win over Wroxall.

Cowes ‘A’ started the game brightly and took an early lead through JOE CRAIG and were 2-0 up just minutes later when NICKY VYSE broke clear and scored.

Kicking with the wind, Cowes struggled a bit with their final ball into the forwards as it kept running through to their keeper. After some managerial advice, the team shortened up their passes and moved the ball about quicker which lead to further first half goals from JORDAN CHAPMAN and RYAN FLYNN.

H-t 4 – 0

Despite a comfortable lead the lads were told of the importance of continuing to take fewer touches when switching play and the importance of working hard to keep a clean sheet. The home side knew Wroxall would tire and Cowes completely dominated the second half. NICKY VYSE scored a second half hat-trick, JOE CRAIG added two more to his tally to complete his hat-trick whilst JORDAN CHAPMAN and RYAN FLYNN both scored again. However have a couple of lapses when players failed to track back with runners and support the defenders which resulted in Rupert Bowles having to clear a shot off the line to keep the clean sheet. There’s a good spirit within the team and the lads are progressing really well.

Another excellent result that keeps the youngsters well in with a chance at the top of Division three.
