IoW DFA Saturday League

Division 3 – Saturday March 19th 2016

Ryan Flynn once again had his scoring boots on again to help keep the ‘A’ team top of the league after a very tough game against a good Seaclose side.

The team started brightly kicking down the slope, and Nicky Vyse was continually causing them problems down the wing, but the chances created were not taken. The break through did come, eventually, on 20mins when RYAN FLYNN fired home after a scramble in their box from a corner. Seaclose always looked dangerous on the break and some last ditch interceptions from the defence kept them at bay. We doubled are lead on 33mins when RYAN FLYNN created an opening for himself after some good build up play, but even leading 2-0 it was known the next goal would probably be vital.

Seaclose started really strong in the second half with the wind and slope to their advantage, but the team dealt with everything they chucked at them and gradually got themselves back in the game. On 65mins that vital ‘next goal’ came to give the Yachtsmen the breathing space they needed. As Seaclose pressed forward they were caught on the break and RYAN FLYNN completed his hat-trick when he just reached a through ball in behind their defence to beat and score past the on rushing keeper to make it 3-0. Seaclose still made the side work hard for their win and hit the post with 10mins remaining which could have made things interesting, but Cowes held on for a vital 3points to keep them top of the league.
