Attendance:- 14

Cowes Sports made the trip to Bournemouth looking to continue their three match unbeaten run and looking to complete the “double” over their hosts having beaten them 4 – 1 at Westwood earlier in the season.

A typical end of season game saw very little goalmouth action in the first period, the game played on a very bumpy pitch did not help either side to keep control of the ball, The best opportunity fell to the visitors in the 40th minute when Tom Scovell fired a free kick inches wide of Joe Coombes left hand upright as the first half remained goal less.

The early part of the second half echoed the first half. Then on 74 minutes the game all of a sudden changed when some poor defending from Cowes saw Bournemouth Poppies take the lead when SAM KWAKU scored. Going behind shook the Yachtsmen and they responded very well and with 8 minutes left on the clock Oliver Wilson’s cross was headed home by EDWARD SANDERS to bring the Island side level. Not happy to settle for a point Richie Woodburn’s side pushed forward in search of a winner. Substitute JARED WETHERICK duly obliged, curling a 20 yard effort into the top corner of the Bournemouth goal putting Cowes ahead. The result was cemented in the final moments of the game when JOHN MCKIE also netted from 20 yards for a third goal for Cowes.
