MANAGER’S THOUGHTS

Well, talk about a big game! Today is so important for both teams as we head into the final straight at the end of a very interesting season. We’ve seen huge improvements both on and off the field around the club. Since the end of January as the changes began to be implemented, we have conceded 10 goals and scored 9, although this may not appear to be the perfect goal difference, if we compare this to just the previous 3 games prior, we conceded 10 and scored just 1, so it’s certainly a step in the right direction and a sign of things to come.

Looking at the last couple of results (Sholing & Tadley) since our last home game against Sholing, I think we can take a lot of positives. When faced with the league leaders at home, not only did we contain them comfortably in the first half, but we created a few chances that if taken, could have given us a very different outcome. The performance at Tadley last week was a very difficult one to be a part of. With the conditions causing mayhem for both sides it was difficult for us to get into any sort of rhythm, but Tadley handled it very well and created a fair few chances and if it wasn’t for Ed it could have been over at half time. However, we learn from this and have taken that into our preparation this week leading up to today’s game and we will only be stronger because of this.

As supporters, you have always been our ‘12th man’ and long may that continue. We hope to see our league position in the coming seasons match that of the average home crowd table, to be in the top 3 of each table would be amazing. Please stay positive and get behind the lads as we look to pick up another vital 3 points today in our quest to secure Wessex Premier football for another year.

Thanks,
John.
