A home game for the Yachtsmen!! Rain late Friday and early Saturday made for a heavy pitch as Cowes welcomed Alresford Town too Westwood Park.

First opportunity of the game comes after 13 minutes when Jimmy Wykes fires wide of goal from a corner. Just on the half hour point and the home side take the lead, good work from Gareth Bricknell ends with JOHN MCKIE netting for Cowes. However home joy short lived as Alresford equalise five minutes later before a goal mouth scramble on the stroke of half time sees then poke home a second goal from close range too lead at half time.

H-t 1 – 2

Three minutes into the second period and Gareth Bricknell should have levelled the scores but he heads over the bar from six yards out. Three minutes later and Leigh Mackenzie repeats with a header over the bar from close in. On 55 minutes a free kick from 25 yards by GARETH BRICKNELL finds the bottom right corner of the Alresford net for a well deserved equalising goal. Ed Hatt then earns his corn with an excellent one handed save from a shot from the edge of the box. Jason Ince replaces Tom Dye as both sides search for a winner without really testing the opposing keeper. But once again it is the Yachtsmen that crack with virtually the last kick of the game as Alresford snatch all three points to leave the home side teetering on the brink as both Newport and Amesbury matches were postponed.
